I'm With You! A Note to Cowgirls from My Sister-In-Love Sara

I’m with you (so is Tulsa😉) even when you feel all alone, anxious, frustrated, overwhelmed, and cold. I’m with you, even when in reality we’re likely hundreds of miles apart.
I’m with you when you wake and your eyes are covered with matter and hay pieces from the day before. I’m with you when you bundle up and prepare for what the day out there holds. I’m celebrating with you in that moment that your equipment actually starts, and you were super concerned it wouldn’t. I’m with you when you have to scoop the bunks before you put out the feed, and hungry eyes are staring at you- impatiently waiting... I’m with you when everything comes up to feed except for that one and you’re thinking oh no, what now, but you evaluate and make a plan of attack to help him anyways. I’m with you when you forget to pack snacks and your toddler is hungry so you swing by the local gas station... Minutes later she’s eagerly fed all the snacks you just bought to the dogs. I’m with you when you hit the ice with the axe and it hits your face, feeling like nails. I’m with you when your lashes are covered in snow and you can’t see two feet in front of you. I’m with you when you feed the last pen and find a prolapse. I’m with you when it feels like your horse is on ice skates. I’m with you in that moment of concern, curious if you’ll be able to get your insulated boots out of the stirrups in time if something goes bad. I’m with you when you carry a calf into the house and do anything and everything you can to warm it up and make it well.... I’m with you when it doesn’t turn the corner and your heart aches. I’m with you when you can’t find a stopping point because there’s so much more you feel needs done, but your body needs rest for what the next day brings and you fight to let go. I’m with you when you wake in the middle of the night to bundle up and check the bred heifers.... There are so many scenarios, and though someone out there likely has it worse, everyone has a story. Just know you’re not alone in the never ending battle of caring for livestock- especially in winter. 😚
